The Volafly app solves a bunch of problems:
There's only one app, you don't have to deal with both DJI Pilot and https://volateq.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/STARTVOLAT/pages/2895020053
A clean and simple interface
Setting for each mission and drone are written in the background
seamless integration with the flight plan management in the web app
Volafly can be currently used with the following drones:
App download: https://app.volateq.de/download-volafly (make sure to select the correct file, see below)
DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Thermal (M3T)
no limitations, fully compatible with the Volafly
DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced
no limitations, fully compatible with the Volafly
DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual
for this drone, some relevant IR camera settings are not accessible through the DJI SDK.

Flight execution with Volafly
Preparing the Drone and Smart Controller
Turn on the smart controller and the drone. Launch the Volafly app while the controller is connected to the internet to update the relevant flight missions. You do not need an internet connection to execute the flights once the missions are visible on the controller.
After the missions are updated, you can proceed to the starting point for your flights.
At the Starting Point
At the starting point of your plant, turn on the drone and the smart controller again. As soon as the Volafly app is launched and the drone is connected to the remote controller, the app performs several actions in the background:
1: Valid GPS signal for both the controller and the drone are expected
2: any warning from the DJI SDK are checked and displayed.
3: Battery level of drone and remote controller are checked
4: check drone position, controller position and home point on the map
Selecting the Flight Route
On the left, select the flight route (1) corresponding the time slot on your shedule (route names are the same).
...
Start flight
Once you have selected the flight route you want to execute by clicking on it, it will appear on the screen. By collapsing the mission details, the start button will become visible. Simply click the start button, and the drone will take off and follow the pre-programmed route.
Warnings are issued if:
the flight route has been created for a different drone model
the distance between take of point and first waypoint is too large (flight route time)
the battery is below 85%
there is not enough storage capacity available
In all other cases, clicking the start button in the lower left triggers the drone to lift off and execute the flight route.
You can switch between different views: flight mission screen and Camera views.
Using the pause button will abort the mission and should only be used in emergency situations as the mission has to be repeated in this case.
During the flight, it is important to avoid touching the joysticks and the zoom wheel. Any slight adjustments can unintentionally alter the flight settings, which could result in changes that may compromise the quality of the video footage, rendering it unusable for analysis. |
